You Will Find What You’re Looking For is a 10ft by 8ft word search spread across an entire gallery wall, the piece consists of black cardstock paper cut out into letters. Unlike a regular word search, instead of a word bank and a search for individual words, the artwork invites the viewer to search for a phrase with a word on each horizontal line. You Will Find What You’re Looking For plays into the childlike excitement a word search can bring, with audience members far removed from word searches embedded into their lives, but the distant memory of the activity from cereal boxes to elementary school assignments. During the viewing, audience members searched for the words and found peace in the encouraging phrase, along with the large-scale element bringing more excitement into the experience.
